Jayson Peterson graduated high school in 1998 from Linden High School in South-Eastern Michigan obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy with a Minor in Political Science from The University of Michigan: Flint Campus in 2002 and a Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University School of Law in 2005.

Jayson performed for all 4 years of high school in the drumline, 2 years in pit and 2 years on tenors. He continued his tenor performance in the Michigan's winter drumline circuit, the MCGC (Michigan Color Guard Circuit www.mcgc.net). In this circuit, he marched tenor drums for 3 years at Cal-Perc Winter-Drumline out of Flint, Michigan, 1 year on snare at Morrice Winter Drumline in Morrice, MI, and 2 years on Tenors for Eastside Fury in Macomb, MI. Between 1998 and 2003 Jayson became Michigan’s Individual Tenor Champion in 3 different years and once tied in a 4th place finish for performing Tenor Solos in the circuit.

Jayson began his instruction in 1998 for Linden High School for one Fall Season while attending college and soon began teaching at Morrice Winter-Drumline for two Winter Seasons. In the year 2000, Jayson became Percussion Caption Head for the West Bloomfield School District instructing for 2 Fall Seasons and a Winter Season before taking the Percussion Caption Head position at Lake Orion High School for a Fall Season. Jayson now teaches at Oxford High School in the fall and is in his fourth year as a Tenor Tech for Motor City Percussion Winter Drumline.
